If your battery needs a boost, here's how to bring it back to life. Attention to the order of connection is crucial. This is one of the most common reasons for a failed jumpstart. You'll need jumper cables and a second vehicle parked nearby to connect the jumper cables. Most cables are around two meters in length. Refer to your owner's manual to locate your vehicle's battery and terminals.
Open the hoods of both vehicles and locate the batteries.
Remove any terminal covers and corrosion. Connect the positive jumper cable (red) to the positive terminal (red) of the dead battery. Ensure the clamp is securely attached with the metal clips.
Connect the other end (red) of the positive jumper cable to the positive terminal (red) of the booster battery.
Attach the black clip (negative) to the negative terminal of the booster battery.
This step is crucial! Connect the loose negative clamp to a metal unpainted part of the vehicle with the dead battery. The engine block bolt is a good option.
Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery. Allow both vehicles to run for a few minutes.
After both vehicles are started, disconnect the cables in the reverse order in which they were connected.
Drive your car for approximately 10 minutes to recharge the battery.
